14-6-2; some "church" statistics

14 is the number of Opawa people attending a 5 week small group leaders course at Bible College of New Zealand during May. Early last month, we wrote to all our small group leaders, suggesting this and offering to pay everyone's fees. The response has been most encouraging.

6 is the number of sofas that have been purchased this week. We've been looking for a good number of sofas for a few months now,in order to make the foyer a more comfortable place to sit and be with each other. We also want to have sofas at Digestion, our interactive evening service, to give a more "relaxed, loungy" feel. This week we discovered an end of line deal, sofa's selling below cost price at the Warehouse. We've been phoned all around Christchurch, then Belfast, then Rangiora, and now as far afield as Dunedin and Invercargill. It's so neat to see a dream finely come to a cheap reality.

2 is the number of rooms being painted at the church this week. With the growth in kids, we've cleared out a room for our 5 year olds. We've also cleared out another room to turn into a 24/7 prayer room. So the hallways of the church smell of paint, as we expand and grow in ministry together.
